E-Love...

So lately I've been thinking about how much the internet has/does/will influence the lives of so many people... How most people have begun to rely on the internet for everything from shopping, talking, reading, media, music, friends, fun, love...
And as I type love...I think...

Did I just type love?

Yep, I did...
I don't know, call me old-fashioned (and you can, cause I am)... but finding love on the net is just something I'm not interested in...
I mean I have friends who have entered relationships strictly based on the feelings typed between two people...and while in some cases I really can dig that because I have made some really great friends via the net... I just don't see it as the place where I want to find a mate...

I see these commercials for e-dating....and love profiles...and love boards, and chats...and whatever you may have...

And I think... Is this the future?

I hope not...

Maybe it's because I'm naturally weary of people who are so eager to find love on the internet... like, for instance, I assume that any man who finds all of his relationships via the internet is generally not the type of man I want to hang out with... in my mind he's some sort of social deviant... Someone who in the real world-- is not as fun, or outgoing, or handsome, or whatever as he can be in the e-world... Or maybe I think I'm not as great out there as I am in here...

Ehh...I can't wrap my head around telling people I meet "Mr. Right" at www.ILoveLookingForLoveOnTheNet.com...

I know that this is just my opinion, and that a lot of people are great both in here and out there...

Let me know...

How willing are you start a relationship here and take it out there? Have you had a successful relationship that started here, and ended up out there? Mishaps?

Tell me what y'all think...

Must be my old-fashioned values acting up as usual....

Actually, my beau and I first met on the internet. It was a mishap, we were just friends on here. However, we ran across each other in person one day, unplanned...and thats where the real relationship began...

Well all I will say is that if someone you met online (or if you're the one saying it) is talking about LOVE ... and all you've two ever done was talk via-internet .... UM THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!

But some people don't go looking for love and just end up talking to the person on the phone. Then eventually meet them.

I don't do e-relationships.

Well, the internet really is a good place for relationships ...at least when you already know that other person (at one point or another).

Now, if you don't know the other person personally, it becomes a question of ...what have you got to lose?

What if no one in your immediate area is available or just plain undesirable? I think of it as a last result of sorts.

--As long as everyone involved is careful, I think it's just fine.

Have I tried it? Yes...

Did it succeed? No...

But neither have the others... LOL... and just to let you know, most dudes who meet women online are just trying to smash... it's so much easier than going to a club where you can maybe get one number, whereas a night on myspace can garner 20 or more... LOL...

@rawkii.- Girl, see that was total coincidence... Y'all didn't plan to meet or nothing... that sounds more like fate to me...

@Rai-I'm with you on that one...I totally agree...

@K Michel- the net is so last resort for me....I would have to be so desperate...

@Hard Work- I know that's the case in most instances but there are some people who are really trying to find love on this thing...
